Brazilian artist and author Monica Septimio discovered painting after a life-changing dream in 2015. During one of the darkest seasons of her life, she awoke with a vivid vision that led her to pick up a paintbrush for the first time. Although she had never studied art, that dream became the beginning of a journey that transformed her life.

Entirely self-taught, Monica has developed a distinctive narrative and symbolic style, blending expressive oil painting with storytelling. Inspired by dreams, childhood memories, Brazilian culture, and her Christian faith, her work explores themes of hope, redemption, resilience, and the beauty found in everyday life.

Every painting tells a story, and every story points to the Light. Many of her paintings are accompanied by written reflections, creating a dialogue between visual art, literature, and faith. Through this narrative approach, Monica invites viewers to pause, reflect, and discover meaning beyond what is seen on the canvas.

As her collection of paintings grew, so did the stories behind them. Her artwork inspired the publication of four bilingual children’s books and one book for adult readers, bringing together painting and storytelling in a unique way.

Monica’s work has been featured in two exhibitions at the Morse Institute Library in Natick, Massachusetts, and in community and cultural events. She is a proud member of the Natick Art Association and enjoys sharing the stories behind each painting while connecting with people through art, faith, and meaningful conversation.

    A artista e escritora brasileira Mônica Septimio descobriu a pintura após um sonho transformador em 2015. Durante um dos períodos mais sombrios de sua vida, ela acordou com uma visão vívida que a levou a pegar um pincel pela primeira vez. Embora nunca tivesse estudado arte, aquele sonho se tornou o início de uma jornada que transformou sua vida.

    Completamente autodidata, Mônica desenvolveu um estilo narrativo e simbólico singular, mesclando a expressividade da pintura a óleo com a arte de contar histórias. Inspirada por sonhos, memórias da infância, cultura brasileira e sua fé cristã, sua obra explora temas como esperança, redenção, resiliência e a beleza encontrada no cotidiano.

    Cada pintura conta uma história, e cada história aponta para a Luz. Muitas de suas pinturas são acompanhadas por reflexões escritas, criando um diálogo entre arte visual, literatura e fé. Por meio dessa abordagem narrativa, Mônica convida os espectadores a pausar, refletir e descobrir significados que vão além do que se vê na tela.

    À medida que sua coleção de pinturas crescia, também cresciam as histórias por trás delas. Sua arte inspirou a publicação de quatro livros infantis bilíngues e um livro para leitores adultos, unindo pintura e narrativa de uma forma única.

    O trabalho de Monica foi apresentado em duas exposições na Biblioteca do Instituto Morse em Natick, Massachusetts, e em eventos comunitários e culturais. Ela é uma orgulhosa membro da Associação de Arte de Natick e gosta de compartilhar as histórias por trás de cada pintura, conectando-se com as pessoas por meio da arte, da fé e de conversas significativas
